Equifax Credit Watch™ Product Review
According to the FBI Identity Theft is the fastest growing white collar crime in America. Equifax Credit Watch™ is a product designed to reduce the risk of your becoming a victim. Basically it monitors your credit files and sends you an email when changes are made. If the changes are things you don't recognize you can contact the company or organization listed immediately and get the issue resolved.
Equifax Credit Watch™ comes in two different packages, Gold and Silver.
The main features and differences of each are:
1. Email Alerts - For Gold these occur within 24 hours of the change being made to your credit report. For Silver you are alerted within 7 days.
2. Identity Fraud Expense Coverage - For GOld it's a $20,000 limit with no deductible. For Silver it's $2,500 with a $250 deductable. Both have some limits and exclusions so you'll need to read the small print.
3. Monthly "No News is Good News" email when there are no changes to your credit file. Same for both packages.
4. Customer Care available 7 days a week - 24 hours a day for Gold customers, 8am to 3am EST for Silver.
5. Online Disputing for both Gold and Silver packages whereby, if you find in your Equifax Credit Report will investigate your concerns directly with the source. If you are in the process of applying for a loan, Equifax will immediately notify your lender of any incorrect information in your file.
6. Equifax Credit Report™ - Unlimited access for Gold customers. One initial report for Silver with an $8 charge for each one thereafter.
There are a few extra features available with the Gold service such as:
- Personalized victim assistance provided by an identity theft specialist who will create an tep by step action plan for you based upon your specific circumstances.
- For an additional fee, the chance to include 3-in-1 Monitoring provides a Credit Report and monitoring from the three credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
All in all this seems a very comprehensive service at very reasonable prices.
Gold costs $9.95 per month, with a three-month minimum required, or $99.95 for 12 months.
Silver costs $4.95 per month, with no minimum required, or $49.95 for 12 months.
